CT Venogram Sydney

CT venogram is a conventional CT scan of the head including an enhanced view of the cerebral (brain) venous system using contrast. This specialised CT allows our doctors to view the venous (blood) structures in the brain. One common use of this scan is used to identify blockages (blood clots) inside the venous system.

CT venogram will require an injection of a contrast dye. This is a non-radioactive fluid injected into your arm through intravenous (IV) cannulation. This dye can cause an allergic reaction in some patients, this is extremely rare. For further information or questions regarding IV contrast please see our contrast page.
