Harbour Radiology provides an extensive range of high quality bulk billed ultrasound imaging including vascular ultrasounds. In particular, we accommodate all deep vein thrombosis (DVT) ultrasounds.
These use no radiation and instead utilise high-frequency sound waves to image the area (usually a lower leg or arm) to check for a thrombosis or blood clot within the blood vessels.
How to prepare for a DVT Ultrasound
No preparation is required.
Appointment length: 30 minutes.
Booking: Appointments are available online through self-booking or by contacting our reception team. DVT scans are urgent, if you are unable to find an appointment online please contact our reception staff and we will accommodate you in any available emergency slots or by fit-in if possible.

How much does a DVT ultrasound cost?
We bulk-bill most Ultrasounds provided they arrive with a medical practitioner referral. If you have any questions, we recommend calling our reception team to assist in booking and to confirm if your scan can be bulk-billed.

Ultrasound appointment lengths vary depending on the body part(s) being imaged. It can vary from 20 minutes for extremities such as hands, to 60 minutes for obstetric scanning.
For a DVT ultrasound, please allow for a 30 minute appointment.

Does Ultrasound have any radiation risks?
Ultrasound does not use any ionising radiation. It is completely safe from radiation and uses sound waves.
