Dental Imaging
We offer a range of standard and specialised dental imaging to assist your practitioner in visualising the teeth in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional planes. These scans can be immediately accessed by your referring practitioner as soon as your appointment is concluded.
OPG and Lat Ceph
OPG (Orthopantomography) is a X-ray panoramic image of the jaw including the teeth, maxilla and mandible.
Lat Ceph (Lateral Cephalogram) is a type of x-ray dental image that requires specific patient positioning to image the side of the head in order to visualise the mouth.
These scans use a very low dose of ionising radiation and is the most common type of dental imaging. It is routinely used to assess the pathology of the lower facial area across all areas of dentistry and oral surgery. They are often part of routine dental checkups, post-implant monitoring and in a vast variety of other oral surgical or general dental applications.
Cone Beam CT (CBCT)
Cone Beam (CBCT) is a type of Computerised Tomography (CT) scan that uses a cone shaped beam of x-ray to visualise the mouth, mandible, teeth and jaw in both the X and Y axis. It is most commonly used to assess jaw pathologies such as implants, impacted teeth or the exact position of teeth. This is often in conjunction with the planning of a surgery such as a tooth implant or removal.
CBCT differs from OPG or Lat Ceph as it provides a 3D image.
