Abdomen & Pelvis CT Scan Sydney
CT abdomen and pelvis is a conventional CT scan of the internal organs. These scans cover the base of the lungs, down your abdomen and into your pelvis, finishing at the top of your femurs. It scans in slices down the body, which allows our doctors to view your internal structures in 3 dimensions. This scan is an extremely common procedure that characterises abnormalities ranging from diverticulitis to cancer to appendicitis.
CT abdomen and pelvis scans usually require an injection of a contrast dye. This is a non-radioactive fluid injected into your arm through intravenous (IV) cannulation. This dye can cause an allergic reaction in some patients, though this is extremely rare. For further information or questions regarding IV contrast please see our contrast page.
